Instead of wandering up and down the aisles on an empty stomach, eat before you go to the grocery store and once you’re there, purchase only the items on your list, suggests Joy Dubost, RD, PhD, a spokesperson for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Too much drinking may make your psoriasis worse. That can keep your treatments from working as well as they could. So if you drink more than a “moderate” amount (up to one drink a day for women or two a day for men), it’s a good idea to cut back.

Liraglutide (Saxenda) is the newest drug to be approved for weight loss. The FDA approved it with the requirement that the manufacturer have a REMS to inform doctors about the serious risks associated with Saxenda. Saxenda has a boxed warning stating that tumors of the thyroid gland have been observed in animal studies but that it is unknown whether Saxenda causes these tumors in humans. Unlike the other weight-loss drugs, Saxenda is administered by injection once daily.

In the long run, 10 days plans can give you a huge appearance of weight loss (water weight), but only a real fat loss of a couple pounds, and unless you are only needing to lose 2 lbs, you otherwise really will need to think longer term. It’s way too boring to constantly slog it out on slow motion plans, and multi-year lifestyle goals are not in the least bit motivating to me. I’ve lost 60 lbs over 3 years, but if I had to think about it that way from the start, I’d have just quit. Those promoting lifestyle changes need to be aware of how devastating their concepts are to some people – everyone is different.

Already busy enough? Then at least eat your meals at the table. “The TV is distracting, and I’m just not conscious of eating,” Virginias tells WebMD. “Once I’m at the table, with a place setting, I’m much more aware of what I’m eating.”

Or choose a diet that suits you. Sometimes when a diet suits you, it becomes simple. No-carb can be really easy if you love meat and cheese. Low-cal can be easy if you adore fruits and vegetables. Take a look through the articles on wikiHow (or the linked comprehensive guide) and see if something calls out to you that you think you could be successful with.

One of the easiest ways to cut back without feeling denied is to switch to lower-calorie versions of the foods you crave. A pizza tastes just as good with reduced-fat cheese, and when you garnish low-fat ice cream with your favorite toppers, who notices those missing calories?

It’s stunning how often we eat out of boredom, nervousness, habit, or frustration—so often, in fact, that many of us have actually forgotten what physical hunger feels like. (Don’t miss these other common reasons you can’t stop eating.) If you’re hankering for a specific food, it’s probably a craving, not hunger. If you’d eat anything you could get your hands on, chances are you’re truly hungry. Learn how to recognize these feelings mistaken for hunger, then find ways other than eating to express love, tame stress, and relieve boredom.
