After orlistat was approved, rare cases of serious liver injury were reported in some people taking it. No cause-and-effect relationship was established. However, Xenical and Alli labels now advise people taking orlistat to be alert to signs and symptoms that could indicate liver injury, such as itching, loss of appetite, yellow eyes or skin, light-colored stool, or brown urine.

Studies found that people who keep food diaries wind up eating about 15 percent less food than those who don’t. Watch out for weekends: A University of North Carolina study found people tend to consume an extra 115 calories per weekend day, primarily from alcohol and fat. Then cut out or down calories from spreads, dressings, sauces, condiments, drinks, and snacks; they could make the difference between weight gain and loss.

The DASH diet was designed to help people lower their high blood pressure, and it’s characterized by a mix of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean protein and low-fat dairy. People on this diet are told to avoid saturated fat, sugary beverages, sweets, full-fat dairy and some oils—and to eat less salt overall.
Look at the bigger picture, and the scam signals I already mentioned. Look at the testimonials. Is it a picture of before and after of the people that may or may not have used the product? Could have they been paid to do so? Or is it a video testimonial done by paid actors? Trust your gut, if it does not feel genuine, it probably isn’t. New research is showing that gastric bypass surgery also has a dramatic impact on the hormones that drive hunger. A study of nine morbidly obese patients found that, just six weeks after surgery, secretions of the hunger-reducing hormones peptide YY(PYY) and glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) were significantly altered. These hormones have been shown to play a role in appetite control by signaling the body that it is no longer hungry after meals.
